The work

Working across the whole system.

Operations, finance, technology, and AI shape one another. The work is to understand those connections and build systems that hold together in practice.

Who the work is for

Keen Media works with organizations whose operating needs cross conventional boundaries. Jonathan’s experience includes independent media and mission-driven institutions, where limited resources and overlapping responsibilities make those connections especially visible.

Operating infrastructure

The structures that let an organization function: roles and responsibilities, workflows, contracts, governance, risk, and day-to-day execution.

Responsibilities, processes, and information need to connect so that people can carry the work forward. Reporting should show the organization how it is actually doing.

Finance as infrastructure

Budgets, forecasting, cash flow, audits, reporting, and the financial systems behind operating decisions.

Budgets and reporting need to support operating decisions. The numbers have to reach the people making choices, in time and in a form they can use.

Technology and AI systems

Publishing systems, integrations, data, automation, agent workflows, and internal tools grounded in how the organization actually works.

Software selection begins with how an organization works. Implementation includes the connections between tools, the information moving through them, and the people responsible for using them. AI work moves between experiment and implementation: giving tools the right information, fitting them into existing workflows, and keeping human judgment central where it matters.

Shared infrastructure across organizations

Shared capabilities, alliances, and systems spanning independent organizations.

Collaboration needs working systems as well as shared intent. The aim is to connect knowledge, technology, and operating capacity while preserving each organization’s autonomy.

The work usually begins where these disciplines stop being separate problems.
